The need for high power, high energy density energy storage is necessary for the continued growth of microelectronics, personal electronics, electric vehicles, green power and grid scale stabilization. Large scale manufactured capacitors are a solution to this need if the capacity can be increased. Research focuses on both the development of high energy density materials and processing methods that are amenable to mass production. Other research includes fundamental characterization and rapid prototyping of proton conducting materials.
